Since 1980, when Lee Atwater established South Carolina’s preeminence as a presidential primary state, South Carolina has been the firewall of conservative politics that every Republican presidential candidate has had to encounter. In the eight presidential elections since, we have a perfect voting record for choosing the ultimate Republican nominee.

But now, in their effort to supersede the Palmetto State, the Florida GOP is threatening to move ahead of South Carolina as the “First in the South” Presidential Preference Primary. SCGOP Chairman Chad Connelly joined Josh Wednesday afternoon to discuss South Carolina’s stance in light of this move and what happens next in this political reality show.

Following that interview, Josh welcomed Family Research Council President Tony Perkins to talk about the convergence of conservative economic and social policies and what needs to be done in light of the current political conditions in Washington.
